The town of Nuevo Arenal in the canton of Tilaran is located on the north-eastern shore of the Arenal Lake of the same name. Lake Arenal is a reservoir in Costa Rica and the largest inland lake in the country with an area of 80 km2. It lies at the foot of the Arenal Volcano and near the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Work for Lake Arenal began. The population of Arenal was then relocated to today's Nuevo Arenal because of the flooding of the reservoir. Hence the name Nuevo Arenal – New Arenal. This is the largest location on the route from Tilaran to La Fortuna.

Without exaggerating, this lot has one of the best views in all of Arenal; this is also confirmed by the locals! A 180° view of the lake and a clear view of the Tenorio volcano, with the spectacular sunsets you sit in the first place on the terrace in the evening! A regular, gentle breeze from the lake drives away annoying mosquitoes, so you don't have to use chemicals to enjoy the evenings outside!

You also don't need air conditioning here, warm days and pleasant cooling at night ensure a pleasant climate and restful sleep. If you want more heat, you can be at the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica in 1 1⁄2 hours. Our experience has shown that this is an ideal day trip, but we were always glad to be back in a more temperate climate.
 
 main house:
The main house was created by a Swiss architect and a Swiss builder. It was built entirely according to European standards and with high quality materials. It is not - as is usual on the American continent - a "sandwich construction" made of wooden framework covered with panels. The walls are made entirely of 15 cm thick concrete blocks and high-quality plaster. It would therefore be possible without any problems and relatively inexpensively to add another floor to the existing ground floor in order to expand the living space (and the view).

The infrastructure is state-of-the-art, the water supply in the house is piped with Sanipex, which makes it easy to replace delicious pipes. Power wiring throughout the house in both 110V and 220 volts. Sockets according to American, German and Swiss standards. Hot water supply by instantaneous water heater and solar panel. Central waste water disposal through septic tank was rebuilt last year. Internet and telephone are of course also hardwired. A satellite dish for TV reception is on the roof
assembled. 2 bathrooms, one with a huge shower cubicle and one with a shower and whirlpool bath. There is also a separate room for an employee with a bed, kitchenette, shower and toilet. So you can accommodate a gardener / guard according to local standards.

A laundry room is equipped with new and high-quality machines such as a washing machine and tumble dryer. A large garage and 2 covered car shelters offer enough protected space for your vehicles or your hobby. The main house is separately fenced and therefore ideal for dogs. A large beautiful radio-operated gate separates it from the rest of the property. Access is via the paved road about 70 meters from the main entrance. The floor plan is ideal for a couple or a small family. Since life here in Costa Rica mainly takes place outdoors, a covered seating area, a viewing terrace and an atrium at the entrance is probably the center of life during the day. On those rare cooler days in December, you'll appreciate the built-in fireplace.
 
Casita Suizo (Guesthouse1)
Like the main house, the Casita Suizo is made entirely of stone. However, it has 2 floors and has a small wellness oasis built into the lower floor in addition to a large and high universal room of over 60 m2. Sun deck with sand, a covered relaxation zone, a Finnish sauna and a cold and hot water pool and a rainforest shower are not missing here.
A small family can comfortably fit in the 2 bedrooms on the upper floor. A fully equipped kitchen, a small bathroom with shower/toilet and a cozy living room invite guests to linger. But the Casito also has a lot to offer outside: a 50 m2 covered panoramic terrace with a BBQ oven, a sunbathing area and even a small pool bar with a waterfall are sure to create that Pura Vida feeling. 
 
Casito Tico (2nd guest house)
The Casita Tico is very popular with our guests. It reflects the local way of life through its colourfulness, through the open kitchen, its large sun terrace and also impresses with the "million dollar view! At night in bed you feel like you are in the jungle. Through
the room-sized windows you can see nothing but nature from the bed. If you are lucky you will be woken up in the morning by the monkeys in front of the window. The ground floor contains 2 air-conditioned and burglar-proof drying rooms; the most important thing in Costa Rica if you don't want to be there all the time and don't want to renew your electronic devices every 6 months. There is also a small wood store, a chicken coop with enclosure, a garden shed workshop. This guest house is also ideal for hobby or amateur radio operators, as it has a permanently installed antenna mast that can be extended to 10 meters. 
 
environment and facility
Fully developed complex with potential
The whole facility covers 3 hectares, completely fenced and divided into different zones by fences for keeping horses. A horse stable with rancho offers enough space for 2 horses, which can also move around and let off steam on the spacious pasture. The access is secured by an electric gate from the street. The main house also has an electric swing gate. The driveways to the houses and the stable are all paved with concrete. An idyllic avenue of palm trees leads to the houses. All supply lines (electricity, water, internet) have been newly laid and designed with control and maintenance shafts so that individual lines can be replaced or repaired. A small pool bar invites you to linger on hot days, while a sauna also helps during the rainy season. A fish or bathing pond in the lower area of the property is fed with fresh water from the Grenzbach and can certainly be used for fish farming. 2 leveled and compacted battens are in place (including a natural driveway) and ready to be built on. A food forest with over 40 fruit and fruit trees is set up as a permaculture. More than 30 different foods grow here, from various fruits and vegetables to cocoa and coffee.

The property can be bought in whole or in part (single plots). Estimate, using a price of US$1600 for constructed area and US$15.00 for developed land, totals over US$1 million. We are motivated to sell as we plan to spend our retirement years traveling . So pretty much everything is negotiable and we will sell well below that estimate.
